Dr. Carpenter is the first eye surgeon in
the state of Nevada to offer his patients the most advanced detection
possible for glaucoma. This new laser, called the OCT3, scans the
back of the eye with the highest resolution available allowing his
patients the earliest detection possible for the subtle and insidious
changes of glaucoma.
Clinically, the OCT3 produces the highest
resolution possible by scanning at 820 nanometers of infrared light
beam. The optic nerve, nerve fiber layer, and macula are not only
put at a scale of less than 8 micrometers (the size of a red blood
cell), but these layers can be reconfigured by scanning laser and
then computer generated into a cross-sectional format for analysis.
